computational design in sweden (reflection from AAG2018)

Random personal reflection from the Advances in Architectural Geometry conference hosted at Chalmers University of Technology last week: For the first time I feel like the Swedish AEC industry starts to understand the true power of  computational design and how it can help solving the major challenges we face in our business.

I’ve never before met so many representatives from major AEC firms operating in Sweden/Scandinavia at a design computation conference, including  Sweco, Tyréns AB, Ramboll, WSP, White Arkitekter, Liljewall arkitekter and more. Many of them telling me how they have received company funded grants to conduct research in the subject or how they have been encouraged to use computation as a tool to solve design problems. This is great news!
