I’ve been working on integrating rhino.compute with augmented reality lately, and I’m blown away by how far AR has come. Observe how the virtual table seamlessly transitions between being behind and in front of the individual in the video. Surprisingly, it wasn’t even that hard to develop:
- Grasshopper for the table logic (through rhino.compute/resthopper).
- Typescript and threejs for the configurator user interface (using SolidJS)
- Vanilla iOS Quick Look for the AR technology (on an iPhone 14 Pro)
Parametric design and augmented reality is a perfect combo for customizing furniture to interior spaces IMO.
P.S. The individual featured in the video is yours truly! 👋
